Opening Times

As of 5 October, the Circulation Department (Lending Room) on the 1st floor will offer its services to library users in the following hours:
⏰ Monday to Friday: 9.00-18.00.

To keep everyone safe

When entering the Library, users are advised to follow governmental COVID-19 guidelines. The Library also introduced certain changes to maintain cleanliness and social distancing:

The library lifts are disabled so please use stairs (lifts can only be used by users with disabilities). There is a one-way system in the Library to ensure distance between users (min. 1.5 m.).

Users are also requested to use hand sanitisers when entering the Library and cover their mouth and nose in all areas of the Library. Users without a face mask will not be served. Users are advised to use disposable gloves.

Lockers on the ground floor can be used to store only small bags and coats. Big bags are not allowed so please do not bring them into the Library.

How to request and collect books

Please use our online catalogue to request books (Use your personal computer or phone. Library computers are not available). Requested books can be collected at the circulation desk on the first floor of the Library at the counter labeled “LENDING. You have 7 days to do that. You will receive email that books are ready for collection.

How to return books

You can return loans through the book-drop on the ground floor (on the right, behind the cloakroom) or using the self-service shelf on the first floor if your books are too big.

Alternatively, you can send them back by registered post at your own cost. The books will be subjected to a 3-day quarantine.

Books renewal

Renewal of loans can be done via your libray account, email or phone.

Clearance slips are signed at the library counter labeled “CLEARANCE SLIPS” or “LEAVING CARDS”. If your clearance slip was issued by WMU Library, please have it signed first by other libraries you have used. If you are a student of other university and have not used our Library, you can send your clearance form to us: wypozyczalnia@umw.edu.pl . The form will be printed, stamped, scanned and send back.

Joining the Library

If you wish to join the Library and activate your account, you can do it at the library counter labeled “Activation of accounts” provided that you fill up our online registration form prior to your visit.

Free Access to Shelves Zone

The free access to shelves areas remains unavailable for users until further notice❗️ Books from that area that are available for loan can be requested for off-site use using the library catalogue and can be collected at the circulation desk of the Lending Room. Books that are only available for on-site use can be requested using the online catalogue and, upon receival of confirmation email, collected to make copies using the self-service photocopying machine.

Silent Study Zone

Silent Study Zone is available to users in a limited way. Cotton or surgical face masks and disposible gloves are obligatory in the silent study zone. Minimal distance between users of 1.5 m should be maintained at all times. The reading room can now house only a limited number of readers – 40. Only registered library users can use the Silent Study Room at this moment. Please, report at the circulation desk before you enter the room. You will be given a laminated card with a number indicating your seat. Users must have their own pens and must report all laptops and books that they want to bring in.

There is a break between 13.00 and 13.30. The whole area will be disinfected using UV-C lamps during the break.

Upon finishing reading, please return books on the Library book trolleys. The books will be disinfected using UV-C lamps.

Study rooms, study aids and computers remain unavailable. Only assistive study rooms remain available for users with disabilities. Email for bookings: informacja.naukowa@umw.edu.pl, phone: 71 784 19 03.

Department of Scientific Information and Bibliography and the library counter on the 2nd floor is open to public from Monday to Friday between 9.00 and 15.OO. Nevertheless, any queries concerning bibliometrics and recording researchers’ scholarly output should be submitted by email or phone: informacja.naukowa@umw.edu.pl bibliografia@umw.edu.pl; tel. 71 784 19 25.

How to request journals

Journals stored in the depot can be requested using online catalogue. Journals stored in the Free Access To the Shelves Area can be requested by email: informacja.naukowa@umw.edu.pl or phone: 71 784 19 25.

Journals published before 1945 will be available in the Department of Special Collections. Nevertheless, open access journals and books published before 1945 remain unavailable.
